About The Artist: Bev Ryan My paintings develop intuitively as I layer colors and imagery, working through ideas as they present themselves to me. The works become a search mission where the medium of oil paint and my love of its plasticity provide a vehicle for me to explore suggested narrative in visual form. Painting is very much about problem solving. I start with only a germ of an idea or a figurative gesture that speaks to me and then begin to build, dismantle, build again into the painting’s final form. My interest in the human condition brings a wealth of subject matter to this process. Paintings containing suggested narrative presented with rich, colorful and painterly surfaces are my goal.
