
East Meets WestFebruary 4 - 28"One thousand days to learn; ten thousand days to refine." - Japanese Proverb Evolve Property Management invites you to view our latest exhibit East meets West, an Asian-inspired exhibit on display in the Evolve Urban Arts Gallery. This month’s exhibit includes works by award winning, featured artists Liang Wei and Marta Sewell that are inspired by their experiences in the Far East. Liang Wei is a Chinese-born artist who specializes in dramatic landscapes and Chinese calligraphy. Mr. Wei has received numerous awards for his works including the title, Artist Of the Year 2005 by the Friends of the Torpedo Factory in Alexandria VA. Additionally, Marta Sewall’s stunning Zen-like abstracts are highly acclaimed and prized by collectors around the globe. Gallery hours are 1:00 – 4:00PM Monday through Friday. Additional private showings are available by appointment. To learn more about this month’s featured artists or to become a featured artist please visit www.evolveLLC.com and click on ‘Urban Arts Project’. 4/8/06 SECOND SATURDAY OPENING RECEPTION:Second Saturday in April marks the end of Washington, DC’s annual Cherry Blossom Festival honoring the gift of the magnificent cherry trees from Japan in 1912. To begin the day’s festivities Evolve is offering a sushi-making class from NOON to 3PM. The sushi making class is free for Evolve residents and $5 for non-residents. The class is limited to 20 participants on a first come, first served basis. Most cooking classes of this nature charge up to $75 per person. In other classes, participants take the class and then eat all the food they have learned to prepare. This class will be a bit different, participants will learn the art of sushi making and have a chance to sample each of the items and the food being prepared by the class will be served at the opening reception later that same day from 4-8PM. From 4:00 – 8:00PM Evolve will open the doors to the gallery so that visitors can view works by this month’s featured artists, Liang Wei and Marta Sewell. Liang Wei will be performing a live ink painting demonstration on the second floor of the gallery and special Guest Robin Buck, a certified; Feng Shui expert will be providing an optional 20 minute live demonstration / lecture on the art of Feng Shui every half hour (4:30; 5:30 and 6:30PM). What is Feng Shui (pronounced fung schway)? Feng Shui evolved from the theory that people are affected for better or worse by their surroundings. Feng Shui is the ancient Japanese art of manipulating and arranging your surroundings to attract positive life energy, or chi, so that it flows smoothly, unblocking any obstructions in your body and environment.
